Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is fourth in the Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta starting with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. In the early years of his life his father became obsessed by the theatre. When he was in school at Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and elsewhere in Atlanta. When he joined in 1953 the Air force, he appeared together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, they got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple left the airforce and Walter began studying at Tulane. Walter was recruited to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They financed the production by themselves. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in that same year. It was in operation for a period of 6 years. In the meantime, they also had two youngsters Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, in 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
